Cadillac EV Maintenance

In many areas, EVs are lower maintenance than gas-powered vehicles; there are no oil changes, fewer parts in the drivetrain, and less wear on the brakes. There are a few things you should be aware of, though:

  • Don't use fast battery charging every time you recharge; it degrades the battery pack faster than 120- or 240-volt charging.
  • Try not to completely drain your battery or charge it fully.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures; both intense cold and heat can degrade your battery.
  • Keep an eye on your tires - EVs tend to be heavier than gas-powered vehicles, which can wear tires out quicker.

Servicing Your Cadillac EV

Cadillac recommends you take your EV in for service once every 7,500 miles, though you should check your owner's manual for more information about your model. In addition to any other maintenance your vehicle needs, your technician will check the coolant and coolant hoses used by your EV's motor.

Cadillac Hybrid Maintenance

Maintaining a Cadillac hybrid isn't all that different from taking care of a Cadillac with just a gas engine. However, a few extra tips still apply:

  • Hybrid cars feature two batteries - one for the electric motor and one for the combustion engine. You need to keep an eye on both.
  • Hybrids hold an electrical charge, which makes them downright deadly to work on unless you know what you're doing. Take your car to our Cadillac service center instead.
  • Monitor tire pressure and oil levels just as you would with a gas-engine Cadillac.

Servicing Your Cadillac Hybrid

Cadillac recommends you take your hybrid in for service once every 7,500 miles or as directed in your owner's manual. In addition to an oil change and other scheduled maintenance, your mechanic will also make sure your electric motor is running properly.
